What is the effect of differential reproduction overtime?

The effect of differential reproduction is a change in the population at the genetic level over time. This phenomenon occurs because organisms possess varying levels of adaptation to their environment, which influences their reproductive success. As a result, those individuals with traits better suited to their surroundings are more likely to survive and reproduce, leading to shifts in the genetic makeup of the population.

changes in a population's gene pool Explanation:Differential reproduction  refers to organisms with best alteration which are more likely to survive. Thus, individuals who inherit features most fit for their environment are expected to leave more descendants than less fit individuals. As a result, adaptations become more recurrent through inheritance, so the fittest creatures have the genes to survive and reproduce.

Differential reproduction leads to a change in allele frequencies over time. This occurs because of natural selection favoring "successful" individuals that produce more viable offspring. The sickle-cell allele is maintained in populations exposed to malaria through balancing selection, since heterozygous individuals have protection against the disease.

Reduction in diversity of genes in a gene pool Explanation:Differential reproduction in simple terms is the survival of certain individuals within a given species up to the reproductive age and thus, their genes are carried forward through progression of future generation and their reproduction further. However certain other individuals with in a species are not able to survive up till the reproduction age and thus they do not reproduce and die before reproducing. In this case their genetic information is not passed on to the future generations. Therefore,  limited reproduction with in the same kind of individuals of a species (due to inability to survive till reproductive age) would lead to reduced genetic diversity.

The correct answer is- changes in a population's gene poolExplanation:Differential reproduction suggest that those organism who are well adapted to there environment and reproductive fit are more likely to survive till reproductive age and are more likely to produce their offsprings. So only those genes will pass to the next generation which is more suited to the environment and the less adapted genes will disappear over time due to differential reproduction. Therefore if some genes are lost over time by loss of less reproductive suitable individuals of a population then their gene pool also changes because the gene pool is the sum of all the genes found in a population. Therefore the correct answer is-changes in a population's gene pool.
