What is the purpose of the U.S Congress and Senate?

What is the difference between both of them? What is their purpose? I’m guessing part of their purpose is to stop the president and thier Party from having too much power, would that be a fair statement? Also in regards to the President, what is an executive order? Can the Congress/Senate stop it?If the Congress/Senate are not pleased with the way something is going and its having a detrimental affect on the people, such as Obamacare to give an example, can they do anything to stop/rescind it? Also is it true that the President cannot declare war on another country without Congress/Senate approval? If that is the case what happened with Lybia? I think i remember on the news they said the Congress did not give approval. I take it this is what happened with Syria as well? While i’m here (i don’t have many points), can i ask about the whole debt ceiling crisis, was anything really done to fix the situation? It seems to me the government has proverbially kicked the can down the road until it needs to be dealt with again.

The purpose of the U.S Congress, which includes the Senate, is to legislate for the United States, confining that legislation to a very small list of powers that very easily fits on a postcard.According to many Republicans and literally all Democrats, its purpose is to enable its members to get super-rich through bribes. The House of Representatives is intended to give the population direct representation in the Federal government. The Senate is intended to give the States representation in the Federal government.. Early 20th century “Progressives” got that changed to eliminate all State power in D.C. So now “The United States of America,” which is allegedly an organization of States, includes no mechanism whatsoever to give those same states ANY voice at all beyond electing their President. The modern Senate is nothing more than an at-large House of Representatives and it is now completely pointless to have both of them exist.A legitimate executive order can pertain only to the operation of executive agencies in fulfilling the laws Congress makes. Many Republicans Presidents and all Democrats have used them to make law instead, to over-ride Congress, to over-ride the Courts – none of which is lawful. Even Democrats in Congress openly express a preference that law be made this way INSTEAD of through Congress. After all, law-making is not why THEY came to Congress in the first place. Congress is OBLIGATED TO IMPEACH over unlawful executive orders but they don’t.Congress has absolute power to end “Obamacare” or any other section of U.S. Code. The fact is, PASSING Obamacare was itself plainly unlawful. The President cannot lawfully declare war at all. Obama committed Treason with Libya – not in that he went to war – that’s illegal, but not Treason – but in that he did so to aid an active enemy WHILE it’s still engaged in war against the U.S. – THAT is Treason and THAT is what won him even more adoring support from all Democrats. There was no debt-ceiling crisis.. The debt ceiling is there to prevent a DEBT crisis, but literally 100% of Democrats expressly DEMAND debt crisis be CAUSED.... Show More

The Senate is part of the U.S. Congress. The Congress is made up of the House of Representatives and the Senate. The number of people in the House of Representatives is based on population. In the Senate, each state has 2 members. Some people thought that states with more people should have more say in how the government was run, while others thought that each state should have an equal vote. That is why there are two houses of Congress. An executive order is a directive that the president can implement on their own. Congress can do nothing about it, except maybe, change the law.Only Congress can declare war, but the President is also the Commander n Chief of all armies and Navies. The President can, and has, used the military without the approval of Congress. Under the War Powers act, the president is supposed to report to congress after 90 days.As far as the debt ceiling, yes, we are still borrowing money, and there is no solution is sight.... Show More

The purpose of the US Congress is to act as the legislative body for the United States. Congress is divided into two houses the House of Representatives, and the Senate. There are 435 voting members of the House (and a few non voting delegates from places like Guam and Washington DC). They are elected to two year terms. Each state gets a number of Representatives depending on its population with every state getting at least one. These Representatives run in districts whose boundaries are determined by the state. The Senate has 100 members who are elected to six year terms (staggered so that about a third of the Senate is up for election in any given even year). Each state has two Senators and they are elected by the entire state.... Show More
