Which one of the following statements is true for spell checkers?

Which of the following statements accurately describes the functionality of spell checkers?

C. A word that you know is spelled correctly may sometimes be flagged as incorrect.
D. Most spell checkers identify inappropriate word usage.

The answer is C. Spell checkers are only as good as the database that controls them. If you run across a word that isnt in that database it will be listed as being wrong, even if it is 100% correct.

I think B because spell checker dictionaries are just going to have the same amount of words, maybe less than a dictionary, because they are only there for getting the word right or checking if punctuation is used in the correct form. As the spell checker dictionaries are spelling words correctly, it is highly unlikely they will get the answer wrong. I haven’t seen any dictionaries with inappropriate words, because if they are in a dictionary, then why would you say it is inappropriate, it is the English language. So I believe spell checker dictionaries include proper nouns or otherwise they wouldn’t understand the subject and word agreement.

Run the spelling and grammar checker on something you have written and notice. the respond would be rather glaring. BTW- this is “no count if” and “antonyms”. YA has a spell checker, you already know.
