Hey mate , what are you trying to do , start WW3 ? Who on earth can say that it was invented in one place or another …let’s just accept that it’s a popular dish in the region & thank the Lebanese for all their culinary skills ! lol

Since when is FALAFEL Lebanese? Actually its originally Egyptian and it spread throughout the Arab world, then it spread into PALESTINE and we subsituted the fava beans the Egyptian used for chickpeas (which is the falafel people eat now) and then it spread north to Syria and Lebanon Hummus, Falafel, Tabouli, Shawarma, etc are all foods enjoyed by Levant Arabs and other Arabs as well and it doesnt matter in which region it started, its Middle Eastern food. European people shouldnt come and claim our food as theirs, period Oh and the BEST Falafel Sandwich is in Tulkarem in the West Bank, out of every Arabic country I have been to and every city in Palestine, they have the best Falafel and Shawarma

The origin of falafel is unknown and controversial. A common theory is that the dish originated in Egypt, possibly eaten by Copts as a replacement for meat during Lent. As Alexandria is a port city, it was possible to export the dish and name to other areas in the Middle East. The dish later migrated northwards to the Levant, where chickpeas replaced the fava. It has also been theorized to a lesser extent that falafel originated during Egypt’s Pharaonic Period or in the Indian subcontinent. In modern times, falafel has been considered a national dish of Egypt and of Israel.

Just because falafel is a common Israeli food, it doesn’t mean Israel invented it. Falafel is Arabic food even the name itself originates from the Arabic word filfil meaning pepper, so I don’t know what those israelis are waffling about

Borris,

Another Falafel versions exist in Egypt and Jordan.

The word Falafel is arabic, means hot condiments.

This fat Mexican guy named Pedro.. He got bored during a slow day at the Lebanese restaurant where he worked as a dishwasher, so he decided to toy around with some ingredients = FACT!

Only known pic of this random hero:http://www.google.com/imgres?um=1&hl=en&sa=N&biw=1…

First of all, who cares? As long as it tastes good ?

Secondly, Arabs invented it. It is an Arab food, created by Arabs.
