If you don’t know what prime numbers are, they are numbers that are only divisible by themselves and 1.

To write any number as a product of primes, you have to do a factor tree. Basically, you write the number and keep dividing it by prime numbers until you reach two prime numbers at the end.

Since 2 is prime number, it can’t be further simplified. Now, you’ll just have to divide 42 by another prime and another number, and repeat this until you can’t simplify anymore.
