Am I safe from pregnancy?
I am 49 years old and have not gone through menopause yet; I still have periods every two months. Should I be concerned about the possibility of pregnancy, and do I need to consider using birth control?

Yes, you still need to be concerned about getting pregnant. You are in peri-menopause. You haven’t went though menopause yet. Meaning you are still releasing an egg. Menopause is when you haven’t had a period for a total year (one year).
Considering you are still having a menstrual period, even though it is every two months this means you are still releasing an egg. Sometimes 2. So you especially need to be careful. That is how my mother had my 7 year old sister and brother. She was 47, an thought she went through menopause as she hadnt had a period in 6 months. Talk about a surprise. She didn’t find out until she was 13 weeks along
