Are the new XBOX 360 S models flashable/moddable?
I recently purchased one of the new slim gloss black Xbox 360 models with a 250GB hard drive. Can the DVD drives in these new consoles be flashed with unsupported firmware to enable the playback of backup games? Additionally, are there any reliable mod chips available that do not require soldering?

Yes they run the same operating system as the old one.
But with modchips the internal wires are designed to break when somebody messes with them so if you are planning to get a mod chip find someone with really steady hands.
