Can anyone tell me how to program a little black universal remote?

I'm looking for help on programming a small black universal remote that doesn't have a visible brand. The only indication on its back is "made in China." Notably, the button that normally indicates "select" is marked with an "M" instead. This remote has dedicated buttons for AUX, DVD, SAT, and TV. Can anyone guide me on how to program this remote for my devices? Thank you!

You need the manual, or at least a make/model. A very vague description is no good.

If it is any good, it will have a clear brand and model you can look up online, and does have at least a downloadable booklet PDF or a web page in plaintext. If that remote doesn’t fit that, get a remote that does.

Look in the paperwork that came with your remote. There should be a section for all makes and models of the diferent equipment that the remote will work with. If it’s not clear to you, or hard to understand, call the store where you got it from or go online to the website listed on the packaging – there should be a customer service ph # and someone there to help you. Helpful hint – once you get the codes for your equipment, write them down. You may need to re-program the remote again if you change the batteries and you’ll want those codes close at hand. I know, it happened to me ; Good luck.

1. Manually turn on the component you want the remote to control.

2. Press and hold the component key you wish to program. The LED turns on and remains on. Keep holding down the component key.

3. While holding the component key down, press and hold the Power key, the LED turns off. After holding both keys down for 3 seconds, the LED turns back on.

4 Release both keys. The LED remains on.

5. Press and release the Power key repeatedly until your component turns off. Each time you pres the power key, the LED blinks and the next code is sent. If your component turns off, you have found the correct code.

6. Once you have found the correct code you must save that code by pressing and releasing the STOP key. the LED turns off.

The instructions are in the manual that was packed with it.
