You can substitute, but it won’t taste as fresh. The general rule is to use 1/3 of dry as asked for in the recipe.

1 teaspoon dried parsley = 1 Tablespoon fresh parsley

4 Tablespoons = 1/4 cup

So 4 teaspoons dried should equal 1/4 cup fresh

Remember to add it toward the end of the cooking process, parsley’s flavor does not “soak” into the food as it cooks like most herbs do.

If it were me, I’d try about half the amount first, then add to it if it looked/tasted like it needed it. You can always add more, but can’t take it back out, lol.

When using DRY in place of FRESH, rule of thumb is use HALF!

So 1/4 cup (2 oz) of fresh parsley, I would use 1/8 cup (1 oz) of dry parsley.

If you do not have a 1/8 cup measure, fill a shot glass 3/4 full. (A shot glass in 1.5 ounces, and you only need 1 ounce)

Hope this helps! ?

The ratio is 3 fresh to 1 dried.

If you’re adding the parsley flakes at the beginning of your cooking, your dish should be fine. The basic rule is that dried herbs go into a dish at the beginning of cooking and fresh go in at the end.

It depends on the recipe your doing Cathy, every person that answers you, will have their own amounts. Since I did a bit of culinary, we used to have to se the correct stuff, but now I eyeball it, been cooking for so long, my quarter cup of fresh parsley is roughly two teaspoons.

Recipes are a guideline Cathy, the flavor is how you interpret that recipe and experiment with flavors, it calls for imagination.

A good substitute for Prosciutto (Italian ham) is bacon. It provides a very similar flavor, especially for sauces.

dry is 3x stronger than fresh.

so if you need 1/4 cup fresh, use1 heaping Tbsp dry.
