Character names for the seven deadly sins?
I'm writing a story featuring seven characters, each representing one of the seven deadly sins. However, I’m struggling to come up with suitable names for them. Here are the seven deadly sins for reference: 1) Lust 2) Gluttony 3) Greed 4) Sloth 5) Wrath 6) Envy 7) Pride. I would like to use male names that embody the essence of each sin. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

If you’re looking for names that will make readers think of those sins or imagine the character to be the epitome of those sins, that wont happen. Names rarely do that. What you need to do is show this through characterization. I suggest naming them using the first letter or even first two letters of each word, that way the reader will easily remember which sin they relate to, but seriously, don’t be lazy, if you build strong characters they wont forget no matter what you call them. That’s your job as a writer, as is naming them to begin with. I’d never let strangers name characters in my book, all the ideas have to come from me otherwise I will not feel satisfied.
1) Lust — Adam
2) Gluttony — Andre
3) Greed — Aaron
4) Sloth — Amos
5) Wrath — Aidan
6) Envy — Abel
7) Pride — Augustus
Just some suggestions…
1.Dick, sorry if thats kinda, well, bad. Ward is also known for being a lustful name.
2. demetrius, with the nick name meat. or something like that.
3.Cai,which means money, well chinese money.
6. Zeal
7. Vain
i’ll try more later, but these are all i can think of right now.

just use names form scary stories or books. Like evil people whose persona fits the sin and then use their name. Sadly i cannot think of any names at the time but if i do i will be sure to let you know.

1) Lust- Christian (because its ironic =])
2) Gluttony-
3) Greed- Eric (Means ‘Ruler of all’- ie he got greedy and wanted everything)
4) Sloth-
5) Wrath- Brandon (Means ‘fiery hill’)
6) Envy- Caleb (Means ‘faithful’ ironic again)
7) Pride- Nathan (Means ‘God’s Gift’ which is attitude)
Those are just suggestions, I think you should name the character yourself, after all you know them best- you created them.
Good Luck =]
