Does anyone here know the longevity of a hemi 5.7 engine with out major repairs? I know honda and toyota 4 cylinders are known to run up to 250K miles. But what is the expected life time of a 5.7 Hemi in a 2004 Dodge ram?

Depends how hard u drive it, I drive my 05 Ram 1500 5.7L pretty hard but i also take great care of it. I’m at 75K and it’s still running like new. Just make sure u listen to the engine and inspect everything and take great care of it. I figure mine is going to last me for another 75, but probably no more than that. So I’d say 150-200 at most.

I bought a 2004 Durango Limited AWD, 5.7 hemi, that had 150,000 miles. Had looked a dozen vehicle prior to coming across this Durango . The leather interior was perfect, every bell and whistle worked on this Dodge. When I drove it, well it drove like a brand new vehicle. The disk packs seemed to have smooth transition, and the Hemi was very strong, no sign of smoke, no fluid leaks and I just couldn’t believe it. I have it over 2 years, put 16,000 miles on it, and all I have done is the oil changes, and some new tires on it. I see many of these still on the road, so I am not the only one to found a Gem. MPG is 15-17

I have an 08 ram megacad with 5.7 hem I automatic 4×4 and I’m running on 211k miles before I bought it with 150k miles it was my company pick up, it was bought brand new and was run hard and abused as a contractor in an open pit gold mine. Have had no problems with the engine the only issues it has ever had was the front tie-rod ends (which is a recall) and the electric shift 4 wheel drive solenoid failed to unlock and after 25k in 4×4 blew the t-case to explode other then that it is an amazing motor

Dodge and Chrysler don’t really enjoy the best reliability. The 5.7 liter V8 Hemi wil be problemsome. Occasional problems are failure of the powertrain control module and the exhaust gas recirculation valve. Problems with the powertrain control module will prevent the car from starting. Repair costs aren’t cheap either. If you’re considering a V8 Hemi Dodge. I would check out the newer generation of the V8 Hemi engine.

The Hemi does have the tendency to “wear off” easily than the Dodge. For me the Dodge is more reliable in terms of its life span. I can’t tell what I think is the exact life time. You can base it probably on how the owner drives it. But you might also want to check if these cars you’re choosing are under recalls.

The motor on my 05 1500 just seized up unexpectedly at 183K mi. Seemed to be running great and very strong. My Ford with Triton V8 is still going strong at 260K. I thought the Hemi would outlast the Ford easily but I was very wrong. Both were very well maintained.

I own an 07 jeep gc 5.7103k+ it just blew up with no tell tale signs b4 handotherwise its a great suv and I’m hoping the reman engine runs longer
