Does plentyoffish say a user is online when they are not?

I’m asking here since I’m not getting responses elsewhere. Does the dating site plentyoffish.com show users being online when they are not? Someone I am dating said he isn’t using the site anymore, but the site tells users that people they search for are online in order to get their interest. He says it has to do with the amount of sign ups the site gets. Basically, if someone looks for people and finds that the people they are interested in are online, the more likely they will stay on the site. He also said that one time he checked that last time I was on and it said I was at 5am (I’m never up at that time). I just wanted to ask because I think it’s suspicious, but I don’t want to call him a liar and dump him just yet since I don’t understand how sites like that work. He runs a web hosting company and knows a lot about sites and the way they work. I don’t. So I just thought I’d ask around to see what others know. It’s okay if he’s lying! I will be fine 🙂

Yea a guy i was dating said i was always online, when i really wasnt!,…id log in and check it here and there, but not often, but id always log out everytime, and i felt so bad cuz he really thought i was still out there trying fish! =( what do i do to change that?? And he will send me messages like ” wow youve been online for hours, hope your boat is full of fish”…and i felt horrible, cuz there was no convincing him i was offline, and really NOT trying to fish! =(

the only way that would tell you he was online when he was not is if he just signed off…. the network has to have time to update and refresh the users status….
