Explain why random distribution patterns for species are the rarest in nature.

Very few species have no pattern of interaction between individuals. It is rare for members of a species to not be attracted to one another or compete for resources, as is required for random distribution which makes this the rarest distribution pattern.

Species distribution is the manner in which a biological taxon is spatially arranged. There are several types of species distribution: clumped distributon (the most common, where the distance between neighboring individuals is minimized), regular distribution (the distance between neighboring individuals is maximized because of the competition for resources) and random distribution. Random distribution in which the position of each individual is independent of the other individuals is the rarest type in nature because. This distribution pattern usually occurs in habitats where environmental conditions and resources are consistent and is characterized by the lack of any strong social interactions between species. It is rare because there are rarely species with any social interactions.... Show More
