how much charge does H2O have?
What is the charge of H2O? Specifically, I would like to know how many more electrons there are compared to protons, or vice versa. Is H2O positively charged, negatively charged, or neutral? Thank you!

Oklatono is incorrect. Hydrogen isotopes such as deuterium or tritium only have one proton but have more NEUTRONS. The number of protons an element has can never change as it is the defining characteristic of that atom.
Water is a neutral compound and not an anion. Therefore its overall charge is ZERO. The oxygen has a partial negative charge because it inequally shares electrons with the hydrogens but this is offset by the partial positive charge of the hydrogen.

H20 is a molecule. Not a ionic compound. When it is stated in molecules, there is no ions. Simple understanding Hydrogen is + (positively charge ion) Oxide is 2 – (negatively charge ions) So, 2H = 2 + O = 2- 2-2 = O, so there’s no ions in the molecule of water, H2O. Is that clear? You have to study on the theory of ions (+charge ions, -charge ions), protons and electrons first. Hope this will help

the charge as in how many more electrons than the protons or how many protons more than the electrons… is H2O a positive charge or negative??
thankkkkks~!!

In presence of salts or weak acids, H2O dissociates into H+ ions and OH- ions. Overall charge of water, however, remains neutral. Remember pure water is not normally ionized.
That depends on whether the hydrogen atom is normal hydrogen with only one proton in the nucleus and one electron, or deuterium or tritium, with two or three protons in the nucleus respectively. Heavy water has a deuterium atom with two oxygen atoms bonded to it. Tritium, H+3 , is radioactive. H2O usually is electrically neutral, but if the hydrogen atom is deuterium, and the water molecule is D2O, the electrical charge of the heavy water is +1, until an electron fills the shell in the d orbital of the hydrogen atom. When that happens, the heavy water molecule usually disassociates, because the hydrogen atom then looks like light-weight helium atom, which is a noble gas.
