I hate my prom dress, so what do I do?
I really dislike my prom dress, and I’m not sure what to do about it. My mom bought it for me, and it cost $300, which feels way too overpriced. This will be my first and only prom, and I feel stuck with an unattractive dress since the store doesn’t allow returns. Additionally, it's too big for me. How can I tell my mom that I don't like it? What should I do with the dress now? Should I just suck it up and wear it? What would you do in my situation?

You can talk to your mom about it being to big or that you don't like it.. Maybe she'll understand and she might help you return it and get a new one. I would suggest telling your mom " Mom, I love that you gave me this dress but I find it a bit big and I don't like how it goes on me" She will probably understand. Going to prom as confidently as you can is important!

Just be honest. Prom only comes around a few times depending on the school you go to. Prom dresses are a big deal and no one should show up in a dress they hate. Just be honest. Tell her you appreciate it but you really cannot stand the looks of it and that you want to go to prom feeling confident. A lot of people suggest selling it online if the store you bought it from will not except returns. You could ask the store about exchanges also!
Just tell her. I know it's hard to do that but just say something like "Mom I know you spent a lot of money on this dress but I don't really like it and it doesn't fit and since prom is something that happens only once I want a dress I really like." You can see if you can return the dress or if not sell it on ebay somebody might like it. If she says no to both these ideas then buy a cheap one with your own money.
In my case, I'd just wear it, but get it altered. My mother does not take no for an answer, you know? haha. But I'd at least make sure it fit properly.
But, if you think your mom will take it ok, tell her you don't think it suits you, and you feel guilty that she spent so much, so you'd really like to try and sell the dress and get a less expensive one that you like better, and she can get something for herself with the extra money. Then it's kind of like "this dress is ugly" wrapped in a nice pretty package of "I'm just thinking of you, mom!" ?

Yeh, I'm sure there are shops in your town that would take it in trade for a different dress. Bridal shops will often sell prom dresses, too. I'd try going there first. Good luck!! : P
you can go somewhere to get it fitted right and you could maybe alter some things about the dress to make it look nicer.
Or even try to add some accessories to draw peoples attention away from the dress if you are stuck with it

rather gown. i actually like it. exceedingly for prom. all human beings is going to look all dressed up and he or she wont stand out too plenty, different than for individuals noticing how rather the gown is. I say, if she likes it then who cares what her friends (or every person else for that remember) thinks approximately it. yet i comprehend it particularly is a controversy so stable success. =]
take it to a seamstress, have it adapted to something u like better if it is already too big. explain to ur mom that while it was a lovely gesture, it doesnt fit and its the only prom u r gonna have. if all else fails, sell it on ebay and get another...
I would return it for a different one if you can or sell it depending on how much time you have
