I miss Christmas, :( Does anyone else feel the same way?
I find it so strange. I get into the Christmas spirit in November, but when the actual holiday arrives, I feel like I've lost all my enthusiasm, and Christmas seems like no big deal. Now, five months later, I truly miss the holidays. It always feels like I get into the holiday spirit at the wrong time of year! Is anyone else feeling nostalgic for the closeness of Christmas?

I do this, in some form, every year. Some years I never really find the Christmas spirit in time for Christmas, and then when itâs over I get all depressed because I missed it. Other years I end up getting so swamped with other things that I donât get to enjoy the season, then when itâs over I get depressed. I find myself working extra hard to catch those lingering Christmas commercials, and rooting for neighbors to keep their lights up just one more night.
One thing I found that helps is leaving myself notes to be read later in the year. I have one document on my computer, titled with instructions that it be read in mid-November, to remind me of how I was feeling the previous year and why I felt as though I was depressed after the holidays. I offer suggestions on what I can do to change that for the next Christmas, and then remind myself to take it easy on the cheesecake. I have a note taped to the inside of one of the decoration totes reminding me to do certain things that will enhance the holiday season, and another note that I keep with the Christmas cookware. So far itâs helped.
One last thing I do, is leave a couple Christmas related things out on display all year around. Subtle things like a small ornament on a shelf, a bell hung on a closet door-handle, or an old gift tag that I tuck into my wallet. That way thereâs always a little Christmas around all the time.
I was talking to my friend about this today!
Last year I felt exactly the same! I was really excited in November but in December it wasnât as big of a deal as I thought in November, but then in January it was like I was mentally prepared for it then. I felt a month late!
But I really miss Christmas, everything just feels so cosy. Itâs nice opening my front door from school and being met by a huge colourful, cheery Christmas tree. Also listening to âNow thatâs what I call Christmas!â and watching Elf practically every week. And walking through town and being surrounded by colourful lights and trees, and Christmas offers on every shop window. The excitement filled the air. ð
But no need to miss it too much, itâs Summer soon and once Summer is over itâll be September, then the next month October is practically the Christmas countdown! So not long if you think of it that way, the best time of the year will be here before we know it. ð
Iâm feeling the same as you! I got into the Christmas spirit around September of last year, then we put the Christmas tree up in mid-November. By the time Christmas, I was just all a bit bored of it and couldnât be bothered to listen to any festive music or watch the films. But now, I really miss the holiday season! It really is my favourite season! I want to enjoy the summer first though, so Iâm trying not to think about it too much!

It’s so wierd. I get so in the spirit of christmas in November, and then when Christmas really does come around, I feel like I’ve lost all my spirit and that Christmas is no big deal. Now, five months later- I truly miss the holidays. It always feels like I get into the spirit of theâ¦
I know this is an old post but itâs the first week in January and Iâm surely missing Christmas like crazy! I wasnât let-down or anything I just wished it could have lasted a little longer. Around here people actually take down their trees Christmas night. Two days later there is barely any sign of the Christmas season was ever near.
I feel exactly the same way as you. We always want we canât have i guess. I do however, miss the holidays around this time of year, so Christmas in July really helps. Nothing too drastic, just watch a movie or two to let yourself know that itâs on itâs way. 231 days left until the big day, and even less until the season arrives!

I miss it when early January comes, but the first three months of the year always seem to go by very quickly. Then it is Spring. What you could do is see if you can make a Poinsettia plant last all year. It is possible to, and that keeps some connection with Christmas. Also, if you enjoy cooking, you could make a Christmas pudding as early as August or September. I used to, and it gave Christmas a certain mystery and anticipation.
In the US, I miss the snow and our Christmas tree and being together. What I DONâT miss is the tension of the season with buying gifts, shipping, wrapping, the hassles at the crowded stores. I just want Christmas to be what is supposed to beâa celebration of Christâs birth. But thatâs just not the norm for the US. Itâts all commercialism.

Yes, i really do miss Christmas!! I miss the music, the smell of hot cinnamon, the white, soft, glittery fall of the snow, the lights on the tree, giving out gifts, making cookies, putting on a Santa hat, etc. I am actually listening to Christmas music right now ð (Let it snow)
But no matter what month it is, if i just listen to Christmas music that spirit goes right back in me then I get really excited ð
Not to worry though. Christmas is coming in 231 days, 6 hours, and 51 minutes. ( According to this website http://www.auburn.edu/~vestmon/xmas_cnt.htm )
Canât wait for it to come. Iâm already making plans of what I want to do this year for Christmas ð Try listening to this song, it always getâs me in the mood:D ~http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r2hHeU2ejBM Iâm already listening it for like the 5th or 6th time :]
