‘Invalid’ Directory error when trying to upload .Nif files in creation kit.?
I've been modding Skyrim for a while now, but I have encountered a problem. When I try to upload a .nif file to create a new piece of furniture, I receive the error message "Invalid directory." I would appreciate any assistance in figuring out what the issue might be. I've seen other modders successfully upload their models, so I’m puzzled. Here are the steps I've taken so far:
- Duplicated an object and changed the .nif, but still receive the same error message.
- Created a new object from scratch and uploaded a .nif, yet the same error persists.
- Tried both methods with and without Skyrim loaded.
- Placed the .nif files in different locations, including the Steam apps directory, but continue to get the same error message.
- Attempted to upload different .nif files, but the error remains.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Any .nif files should be placed in your “…skyrim/data/meshes/” directory.
Also, you may have to disable “user account control” in Windows (not sure if this is really a problem or not, but I have heard people say that after they disabled it, things worked for them).
