Need help in chemistry: how to convert kg to mg?

I need assistance with a chemistry problem: How do I convert kilograms to milligrams? For instance, I would like to know how to convert 0.00576 kg into its equivalent measurement in mg. Could you please demonstrate the process so that I can understand how to perform this conversion?

1kg=1000gram

1gram=1000mg

so 1 kg=1000*1000=1,000,000mg

1 kg=1000000 mg

0.0057 kg=0.0057*1000000mg

=5700mg

similarly

0.000005 kg=0.000005*1000000mg

=5 mg

on the other hand,

1kg = 1000000 mg

1mg=1/1000000 kg

=0.000001 kg

so,

500 mg = 500 * 0.000001 kg

= 0.0005 kg

and,

9000000 mg =9000000 * 0.000001kg

= 9 kg

I hope this helps u any.

The list is like this

kilo

heca

deca

gra(m)

deci

centi

milli

so,to convert,place 1 at the starting value and then place zeroes till the last value.Mutiply when going down and divide when going up.

eg:

to convert from metres to cm:

kilo

heca

deca

gra 1

deci 0

centi 0

millii

since u r going down from metres to centimetres,u multiply by 100

that is,1 m=1*100 cm

get it now??

A kg is 1000 grams. A mg is 1/1000 of a gram.

0.00576 kg would be 5.76 gm or 5760 mg.

1000mg= 1g

1000g= 1kg

so, 1,000,000mg= 1kg

kg 2 mg= multiply

mg 2 kg= divide

here is the list

Kilo Hecto Deka Unit (Gram Meter Liter whatever) Deci Centi Milli

So to turn one measure into another just move the decimal the number of places and direction to get to the unit you want.

For instance Kilogram to miligram move the decimal six places to the right. For Gram to Kilo gram move three places to the left.

1944mg = 0.0019440kg Learn the prefixes and move the decimal point accordingly milli=1/1000 kilo=1000
