The budgets vary significantly. Strapping a rocket to a car can cost tens of thousands of dollars, while training goldfish costs a couple of hundred, says Adam Savage.
Taken from a 2011 interview with the stars of Discovery Channel’s hit show "Mythbusters", we found some figures that may still be very helpful in answering this question now.
Adam and fellow mythbuster Jamie Hyneman stated that the budget for materials per episode ranges from $5,000 to $10,000. The materials can vary, depending on the episode, from $150 all the way up to the rocket car at $100,000. Due to Jamie’s Hollywood shop experience, they usually find the most cost-effective way to accomplish their tasks.
Savage and Hyneman will return for another season to bust stunts with science. Visit Discovery.com for a sneak peek at the all-new episodes of "Mythbusters".
