Sodium and chlorine atoms combine readily because they both tend to lose electrons. true false

Hope this helps!

This is false. Because of the pull of the nuclei of sodium and chlorine, the atoms are more likely to gain electrons when combining. It takes much more energy to take an electron from them then it would to take from metals. Hope this helps!... Show More
False because sodium give electron and chlorine gains so they become ions and because of opposite charges combine and makes bond... Show More
False, Sodium loses electrons (making it a cation) and chlorine gains an electron (making it an anion). This is because both atoms need a full outer shell in order to bond.... Show More
Sodium is part of the group I which tends to lose an electron. On the other hand, chlorine atom is in group 17 which tends to gain one electron. The combination of these atoms is due to transfer of electron from one element to the other. ... Show More
