spectator ions or not?….chem test soon pls help!?

When the following two substances are mixed: K₂CO₃(aq) + Fe(NO₃)₃(aq) →, the mixture contains the ions listed below. I need to sort these species into spectator ions and ions that react, but I’m not sure how to do it. Can someone please help me figure this out and explain whether each of these ions is a spectator ion or one that reacts?

NO₃⁻(aq): _
Fe³⁺(aq):

CO₃²⁻(aq):
__
K⁺(aq): _____

Thank you so much for your help!

Ok in this reaction a precipitate will form… using a precipitate chart (probably in your text book) we can tell that NO3 compounds are almost always souable in water and that compounds of CO3 are usually solids therefore in the reaction we know FeCO3 will be the solid precipitate:

3K2CO3(aq) +2Fe(NO3)3(aq) —-> 6KNO3(aq) + Fe2(CO3)3(s)

Now if we break this all down into ions we get the "total ionic equation"

K(+) + CO3(2-) + Fe(3+) + NO3(-) —> K(+) + NO3(-) + Fe2(CO3)3(s)

Because Fe2(CO3)3 is the solid we do not break it down into ions. Ok now the spectator ions are the ones that are ions in the beginning and remain ions at the end which would be;

K(+) and NO3(-)

If you make an equation with just the ions that change from Ion to solid, you get the "net ionic equation" and you can see the ions that react:

2Fe(3+)(aq) + 3CO3(2-)(aq) —> Fe2(CO3)3

Hope that helps good luck on your test!

No, you’re starting to be to be the means to tell. in case you do get a damaging it ought to be that it became to early or you need to maintain attempting, i’m interior the comparable boat my final era became the twenty 8th of Feb and that i’ve got been getting some indicators, and that i did a attempt final week and have been given BFN yet nonetheless getting indicators so i’ll examine back next week if AF does not arrive. desire it facilitates
