The difference between “Where are you all?” and “Where are you?”?

Here are the two sentences again: “Where are you all?” and “Where are you?”Does the first sentence emphatically tell that the speaker is addressing more than one person, right? Whereas in the second sentence the speaker is asking only one person. I know that in English the personal pronoun “you” may refer to more than one person. But when one wants to address more than one person, they will put that “all” after the “you”, right? Is my understanding on this correct? Could you give me some more examples which use this kind of grammar?

In English we don’t really have a separate word for you singular and you plural. So now a lot of people put you all when addressing more than one person. So for the most part yes you are correct. Though some people like a teacher might still just say “You need to turn in your homework tomorrow.” when addressing a whole classroom.
