It’s a single binary digit. 8 bits make a byte. A bit is either a one (1) or a zero (0) and it a positional thing. In an 8 bit string (byte) example, let’s say it’s this: 00101101. This byte is the binary representation of the decimal number 45. Here’s how to read the string. A 1 means the position is on, 0 means off. Starting from the RIGHT side, reading left, the positions have values of 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64 & 128. So using simple addition, positions 1, 4, 8 & 32 have ones in them so they’re ON. Add those four numbers together and you get the decimal number of 45.... Show More

https://shorturl.im/YBbjcGreetings! You are right, of course! Wicca is a Religion that has an Old European basis, where “WitchCraft” can refer to ANY Religion or Culture. “Wicca” as we know, comes from Old English (not from the Italies!) and refers to the Anglo Culture, especially Mercia, which was called “Hwicca” before being subsumed into Greater England. It is a fascinating History, and I think every Wiccan should research it. Gardner, of course. says he did not invent the term, but was introduced to it as “Wica”, and was not adverse to change, even espousing members to change his writings to suit their need. He found a Culture that was hidden from the Christian Church, and would not have survived without being concealed in the New Forest area, a combination of Celtic, Anglo, and Roman beliefs-so he ran with it. And I thank him, and his friends. Now that people have decided to use the term as a way to show a relationship to the Religion, some “Traditionalists” indeed, have taken extreme umbrage to this and that, change or no change, names, titles, lineage, and on and on-BUT! Wicca exists as a Religion in America, and around the World as a testament to people who stand up for their ideals and beliefs, and, as you say, we are NOT giving up, giving in, but are going to continue, and grow! All Religon has its own Sects, Cults, and Groups, many which attempt to define the Religion in their own terms. We should avoid this conundrum and just say, as you say: “everyone can be happy” and proudly keep our diversity. /!... Show More
