Using the gas pedal analogy explain the impact on the cell cycle of one mutated tumor suppressor gene allele versus two mutated tumor

Using the gas pedal analogy, a proto-oncogene acts like an accelerator, as it promotes cell division and deregulates apoptosis. In contrast, a tumor suppressor gene functions like the brakes, as it restrains the progress of the cell cycle and induces apoptosis. Therefore, when a proto-oncogene becomes mutated, it can be likened to an accelerator that is stuck in the down position, while the tumor suppressor genes are not functioning properly. This situation can lead to uncontrolled cell growth. Now, let's consider the impact of one mutated tumor suppressor gene allele versus two mutated alleles on the cell cycle. How does each scenario affect cell division and the overall regulation of the cell cycle?

Using the gas pedal analogy, the proto-oncogene would be an accelerator since they promote cell division andderegulate apoptosis, while tumor suppressor wouldbe the brakes since they constrain the progress of the cellcycle and induce cell apoptosis. Anoncogene is, therefore, when the acceleratoris stuck in down position and the brakes are not working.

Proto oncogene are normal genes which are involved in cell growth and proliferation while the oncogenes are genes which have the potential to become cancerous. During cell division, proto oncogenes are strictly regulated, the cell division proceed appropriately and the division is terminated when the cell division is over. The cell division of the oncogenes on the other hand are not regulated, they continue dividing indefinitely. Using the gas pedal analogy, for the proto oncogenes,it will be GO, GO, GO, STOP. For the oncogenes, it will be GO GO GO GO GO GO [The 'GO' continues indefinitely].
