What does it mean to have the map of Ireland on your face? Could you please explain the significance or any cultural references associated with this phrase?

According to sources, "to have a map of Ireland on your face" in Ireland means that advanced aging has resulted in lines on the face resembling a map. In the United States, it apparently means that you look typically Irish.
