Is KNO3 soluble in water?

Is KNO3 soluble in water? Additionally, is it soluble in CCl4 and alcohol? I believe KNO3 is nonpolar, but that's all I know. Thank you for your help!

Rules to finding if things are soluble in water or not.

1) All compounds of Group I and ammonium ions are soluble.

2) All nitrates, acetates, and chlorates are soluble.

3)All binary compounds of the halogens (other than F) with metals are soluble, except those of Ag, Hg(I), and Pb.

4) All sulfates are soluble, except those of barium, strontium, calcium, lead, silver, and mercury (I).

5) Except for rule 1, carbonates, hydroxides, oxides, silicates, and phosphates are insoluble.

6) Sulfides are insoluble except for calcium, barium, strontium, magnesium, sodium, potassium, and ammonium.

So yes, according to rule 1 and 2 KNO3 is soluble.

Is KNO3 soluble in water?

also, is it soluble in ccl4 and alcohol

I think KNO3 non polar, but thats all it know..

thx bunches!

Any compound that is formed from a Group I element is soluble in water. Since KNO₃ is made up of K+ (potassium) ions, which are in Group 1, and of NO₃- ions, KNO₃ is soluble.

I hope this helps!

polar, draw it out, not evenly spaced, so polar, charges don’t cancel out

soluble in water

probs soluble in alcohol, not in CCl4, because CCl4 is nonpolar and like dissolves like ?
