what does it mean if someone calls you their “boy blue”?

like, “My best friend Sam. Him and I can sit and play for days. We sew and stud and make bracelets and rings out of **** we find in our houses. He’s my boy blue.”

It could be making a reference to a couple of paintings that are typically displayed together. One is called Blue Boy – a boy dressed in 18 century style fancy clothes that are blue. the other painting is of a young girl dressed in the same style wearing a pink dress – this picture is referred to as Pinky. Pinky and Boy Blue are typically a matched set and so maybe that’s the comment.... Show More
