what does tapered mean?
Some jeans are labeled as "tapered." What does this term mean? I'm not familiar with it and would appreciate some clarification.

Jeans come in different cuts for example:
-flare: means that the thighs are straight and as you near the bottom, the shape flares out (very 70’s shape pants)
-bootcut:straight through the thigh then a small flare, not really noticeable, the cut that goes to most people
-straight leg: (or cigarette pants) the cut says it all, almost as in the early 60’s and you could wear them with flats
-wide leg: from the waist, the cut flares out
-the skinny (tapered leg): from the thigh, the cut goes in creating a small leg bottom (envision the ice cream cone effect)
there is now even the super skinny jeans which are super tight as if they were spray painted on your legs so unless you are skinny, you should not wear the skinny jeans.
There is also the waist lenght:
high-waist: hits you close to your navel (a must on every ”mom” jeans)
middle-waist: somewhere between your navel and your hip bone (generally the most flattering)
low waist: at your hip bone or even below (careful with that cut, and don’t bend over wearing a thong, i’ve seen some major fashion’s don’t)

From my experience, tapered means a slimmer, more body conscious cut that fits closer to to your form. A bell bottom jean is not tapered. A tapered leg would get narrower as it reached your ankle as opposed to flaring with a bell or boot cut.

RE:

some jeans say they are tapered what does that mean i dont know
the bottom opening is the smallest part on the jeans, usually used when talking about skinny jeans, or frumpy old woman jeans (that are wide and still tapered ewww) but skinny tapered jeans are awsome, much better than a skinny straight
