What does the phrase ‘Death is certain, Life is not” mean?

I'm considering getting the phrase "Death is certain, Life is not" as my first tattoo. As a huge fan of Lord of the Rings, I've decided I'd like it inked on my foot or wrist in the Elvish script used in the series. What does this phrase mean to you personally? Would you choose to get this tattoo, and if so, where would you place it?

I probably wouldn't get this tattoo. That's just me.

The phrase means that death is inevitable and it's gonna come no matter what and it's going to happen to every single person. However, the way you and others live their life is not certain. Or, if you live and enjoy it at all.

I'm thinking on getting this as my first tattoo. But as being a huge Lord of the Rings fan, I've decided that I wanted it tattooed on my foot or wrist in the elvish scripture used in LOTR.

Would you get this tattooed on you?

I would never get a tattoo.

The phrase to me means that everyone is going to die at some point, and that life is very short and uncertain. It's kind of morbid.

It has nothing to do with being morbid. Death is certain to all of us. How we live our lives, & the choices we make are strictly up to us. I wear a silver bracelet with this engraved on it to remind me to make the very best I can of each day that I have.
