Definitely pellets.Pellets is another diet for birds and is much healthier for them it can expand there life span by letting them eat more pellets, because seeds contains full of fats.I also got a list of safe and not safe food for birds to eat.
Here is a list of things you can feed him that are safe, and are human foods:
Apples
Pears,
peaches,
bananas,
berries,
kiwi,
pomegranate,
grapes,
raisins,
carrots,
sweet potatoes,
beets,
broccoli,
legumes,
frozen mixed vegetables,
kale,
greens (not lettuce),
greenpeppers,
zucchini and other squash,
asparagus,
ripe tomatoes,
dried hot peppers,
sprouts-bean or
alfalfa,
spinach, and
brussels sprouts.
Bean sprouts
use red, green, and yellow Bell Peppers for this recipe. I cut the Bell Pepper into little rings, or circle, so it looks like “O”. Make sure you take out all of the seeds, and make sure you wash it very well. Hang them around the cage, or put them in a bowl together and let your bird paly with them! They love to use them as necklaces, munch on them, and hold them on their food. This is a great, healthy, and very fun toy for your cockatiel!
Fruits:
Apples
Pears
Peaches
Bananas
Berries
Kiwi
Pomegranate
Grapes
Before feeding your parakeets any fruits or vegetables, clean well! Most store bought fruits/veggies have pesticides on them which can prove to be lethal to your bird.
Veggies:
Carrots
Sweet Potatoes
Broccoli
Cauliflower
Bell Peppers
Beets
Legumes
Frozen Mixed Vegetables
Kale
Zucchini (and other squash)
Asparagus
Bean or Alfalfa Sprouts
Spinach
Brussels Sprouts
Again, make sure you clean well! Pesticides are used on store-bought vegetables and plants and can kill your bird.
Also, try cutting up the veggies or fruits into dices, long slices, or thin little strips. You can feed apple whole as long as you skin it. My birds love to shred apple! You can also feed them *plain* apple sauce! Also, make sure you remove the roots, pits, and seeds of the food you give them.
Foods You Should NEVER Feed:
Chocolate
Avocado
Sugary Foods
Salty Foods
Greasy Foods
High Fat Content Foods
Caffeine
Soda
Alcohol
Pits/Seeds/Roots of Fruits/Veggies
Candy
Rhubarb

Budgies are not just seed eaters, they also eat green veg, such as Broccoli,Kale, Cress, Carrot, Sweet Corn Cob.wild seeding grasses and soaked sprouting seed which is one of the finest, Soak some of their seed in warm water overnight drain , rinse , place somewhere warm till it sprouts (2-3 days) rinse and feed this to your birds, they will devour it. A seed only diet is what most finches and Parrakeet’s live on, but they also eat green food and this is the best supplement for healthy birds Avian Care Consultant and breeder

What else can you feed budgies besides seed??
i recently looked this up.
The Association of Avian Veterinarians recommends the following diet for a parakeet:
50% cooked beans, whole wheat bread, cooked rice, pasta, and seed
45% fresh broccoli, carrots, yams, spinach, dandelion greens, other green/orange fruits and veggies
5% eggs, tuna packed in water, well cooked meat
Parakeets are lactose-intolerant and cannot eat a lot of dairy product. Also, parakeets are HIGHLY allergic to chocolate and avocados and should never be given either. Junk food such as pretzles, potato chips, etc. aren’t good for a parakeet either! You can feed a parakeet fresh fruit such as apples and cherries, but be careful about the seeds as those have toxins in them. Lettuce is fine, but it really has no nutrients in it. It’s better to give them other, healthier greens.
Parakeets do NOT overeat. If anything, people tend to give them too little food, thinking a seed cup is full when really it’s just full of the hulls of the seeds the parakeet has already eaten. Be sure to refill your parakeet’s food supply daily and to give him or her lots of fresh foods too.
Just like most people feed their cats and dogs “kibble” (processed pellets) instead of their natural foods (rabbits, rats, etc.) some people also feed their parakeets “kibble”. The kibble is nutritionally balanced and a great way to meet all of the parakeet’s food requirements easily. Some parakeets love kibble, others are convinced they want to eat “real food”. Whichever way you go, be sure to give your parakeet a diet that is balanced and healthy.
You’ll find millet in many pet stores. This is very high in fat and is a treat for parakeets. It should only be fed to them occasionally. Parakeets in the wild certainly did not have millet year-round!
I have mixed my pellets with seed to feed my feathered babies, I also provide mine with an egg food mix and fresh vegetables daily, I do add fruit occasionally but they never touch it, they love broccoli, celery, I grate carrot to moisten egg food too, I also grow fresh leafy greens that they love, dandelion etc, all budgie friendly of course. They are growing on my window I just pick them fresh as I need them, they love them.

Millet Spray, Fresh fruits and vegetable like apples, carrots, lettuce, oranges, pears, bananas. my old budgie especially loved mango and apples. Or I even gave them some boiled eggs cut into tiny peices.
all of them provide a different series of nutrients and that is why a variety of both highly recommended by nutritionists and dietitians.
Fruit and Vegetables both are too Important for our body and the two are tasty so I like both.. and both are packed with VitaminsA, E, B, C and.. minerals.. and packed with energy with protein
