What goes on the X-axis and the Y-axis on a graph?

Graphs and Charts/science question

On the x-axis you put the independent variable – the variable that you can change from time to time or control. This is the input variable in a science experiment. The y-axis controls the dependent or ‘results’ variable. If you are looking at the growth of bacteria under various temperatures, the x-axis would identify the temperatures while the y-axis provide you with the information on growth.... Show More
Usually the X axis is your control range (Time is a common example), it runs along the bottom of the graph. The Y axis is for the results of the data, and can be just about anything. Let’s take a typical line graph of, say, the stock markets at the moment. You can see that as X (time) increases, the share price (Y) goes up and down. At the moment, the underlying trend is straight down.... Show More

on the x-axis usually goes the variable you are controlling, and the y-axis is the data you record. for example if you wanted to make a graph showing how concentration of a liquid effects boiling point, you’d put the concentration on the x-axis and boiling point on the y-axis... Show More
https://shorturl.im/PgdIpYes, you would put age of death on x, & # of deaths on y. That way you are grouping how many people died at each age & could see trends, such as ‘there are more deaths in childhood & old age combined than in middle age’ (I made that up but you see the point). Also this makes more sense. If you put # of deaths on x, as you went to the right your data would be choppy, you would have huge gaps between the numbers, & you may have two years with same number of deaths so both would have to be put above a single x. Definately use bars. The only reason to use points with a line drawn through them is to show a consistant trend like ‘the population of Flint, Michigan was low in the 1940’s but you can see it rose to a peak in the 1980’s as american car sales exploded but came back down in the 1990’s & beyond as foreign cars penetrated the market.’... Normally, the Y will be the variable that is measured against the X (the control variable). For example: Your height over time. The Y would be the height and the X would be time.Stock price over time: The Y would be stock. The X would be time.Weight as a function of height: the Y would be weight, the X would be height.... In binary options you will have the possibility to predict the movement of various assets such as stocks, currency pairs, commodities and indices. Learn how you can make money trading binary options https://tinyurl.im/aH52Q An option has only two outcomes (hence the name “binary” options). This is because the value of an asset can only go up or down during a given time frame. Your task will be to predict if the value of an asset with either go up or down during a certain amount of time.... Show More
The Y depends on the X. The X is vertical, Y is horizontal.Say you have number of farts VS beers drunken.Think of it this way, as a question, (which seems more logical to you?)Does how many times I fart depend on the number of beers I had?ORDoes number of beers I had depend on how many times I fart?BTW it’s number one. Hopes this helps, I made it as simple as possibe. I didn’t get it in the start too..... Show More
