2.8 inches on a ruler?? where is it?!?!?
Where can I find the 2.8-inch mark on a ruler? I'm looking at the side that indicates eighths of an inch, and I see seven small lines between the big 2 and the big 3. Which of these lines represents 2.8 inches? Is it the seventh line before the big 3? When I count to the eighth line, it aligns with 3 inches. I really struggle with using rulers, and I know this might seem like a simple question, but I would appreciate your help!

Most customary rulers are divided up by powers of 2. (halves, quarters, eighths, sixteenths, etc...)
Some rulers are divided up by powers of 10, but they are rare in the U.S. This is more common in the metric system (meters), but less common with yards, feet, inches, etc...
2.8 inches is very close to 2 13/16 inches. (13/16 is .8125, which is close to .8)
If that's not accurate enough, then perhaps 2 51/64 is about as close as you're going to get with a standard ruler, if it graduated by 64ths.
