i don’t get it ….luffy’s father is dragon but ace’s father is gol d roger? but they are brothers?? are they cousins who have the same grandfather?

They are, as far as we’ve been told, unrelated.Luffy’s father is Monkey D. Dragon. We don’t know who his mother is. Luffy’s grandfather on his father’s side is Monkey D. Garp. We don’t know any of his other relatives.Ace’s father was Gol D. Roger, and his mother was Portgas D. Rouge. Both died at least three years before Luffy was born. Roger asked Garp to look after Ace, having him raised along with Luffy. So the two were not related but considered each other, as well as a third child called Sabo, to be brothers, so whenever Ace and Luffy called each other ‘brother’, they meant it in an adoptive sense. Since there are so many gaps in their family trees, it’s not inconceivable that Luffy’s mother could be related to Gol D. Roger in some way, meaning he would actually have a blood relation to Ace. We’ll have to wait and see.
