What is the literal translation of the word ‘chokran’?
I’m studying a play as part of a performance and have come across the word "chokran." I understand it to mean something like "goodbye," but I’m not entirely sure. Could someone clarify the literal translation of this word, as well as its meaning and context? Thank you!

Chokran (or shukran) (pronounced shook-ron with an ooh sound) literally means thank you. The standard response to chokran is afwan, which in this context would mean ‘you are welcome.’ Please note that afwan can also be used to mean ‘excuse me’.
