I heard it on a British TV show, and it seemed to describe a halloween costume for a girl. However I can't come up with a meaningful result on any search engine. To clarify the question, the pronunciation seemed to be sen-trin-ian.

I'm watching that episode of As Time Goes By, and wondered the same thing. Reference to black stockings and such, but when the lady decided to wear some kind of ethic outfit as 'a mistress of Centrinia' and wore like a Scandinavian milk maid outfit, I am more confused. I see no Wikipedia for the word, either. May start with an S, but they definitely say 'Cen-TRI-nian'. Not centurian, of anything about Saint Trinian. You know how the British like to say a word crisp and swift off the tongue, there is no lag in the word.
