When applying for a job, I often come across listings where the compensation is listed as "TBD." What does this mean, and how should I interpret it during my job search?

TBD - means to be determined, meaning they do not have a set salary and will base the offer on a person's background and experience.
Another term you may see is DOE - Depending on experience.

this is a pretty way of saying your salary is comission based, meaning the more work you do, the more you get paid. if they are saying 80k is top pay, i'd be careful. it sounds like they are trying to butter you up and lure you in. if this is a sales job, be very leery. if this is warehouse work, be even more leery. some warehouses who have performance based salary base everybody's pay on the work everybody does as a group. this kind of pay can be even lower than working in sales. personally, i would never take a job like this unless there were base pay.

To Be Determined. The company has a salary range for the job and they will weigh your skills and prior salary history when/if they make an offer.

It means that the pay is going to change depending on what schooling and experience you have.

I guess they are trying to say that your salary will be determined based on your prior work history & level of experience.
