The Ghost Box or “Franks Box” ,as it is known by some, is a device that is said to be able to scan the airwaves to help facilitate disembodied voices to communicate through it. There are various configurations and it is quite simple to construct on your own though there are ones you can readily purchase already configured. The ghost box is  not a new concept and Thomas Edison actually had a design for what he called a “Spiricom” but he never completed it prior to his death. I have seen this device in use and it can be quite compelling to listen to but it does help if you are in a suspected haunted location as it increases the liklihood of success . If you’re talking about the guitar effects unit, the cheap ones never work very well.
If you’re talking about a box to keep ghosts in, I don’t think you can buy those.  Only the Catholic church gets those, and it’s the little box they lock God up in when they’re done with him.  I forget what it’s called (maybe the tabernacle or something), but I don’t think they’ll sell you one.

The brain occasionally interprets static as voices because white noise is essentially all different types of sound being made at the same time. It will appear that words occasionally jump out at you.
