Which doctor should a person with anger management issues go see?
What type of doctor or specialist should someone consult if they are struggling with anger management issues? Could you also provide guidance on how to determine the most suitable healthcare professional for addressing these concerns?

First let him consult a general practitioner physician or a professionally qualified doctor. Based on his age, present health position, his habits, temperament, etc. the doctor himself will suggest, if necessary, the further course of action to be taken.
There are some great psychology books out there on anger management that would help more than a doctor. In fact, psychologists usually have books that they recommend.
Mine may not be a popular answers but going to doctors and taking a lot of different drugs is not the answer to this problem. In addition to psychology books, reading the bible and other uplifting books are very helpful. Also soft, soothing music, taking a walk, petting a cat or dog (yes that has been proven) and other things that take a person out of what they are upset with. It is helpful to talk their problems out so if they don’t have a mate or someone they can trust, going to a counselor is a good idea.

Probably a therapist rather than a doctor. A psychiatrist might become necessary if prescriptions come into the picture, but I believe that anger management is usually dealt with primarily on a behavioral level.

I would recommend going to see a licensed psychotherapist with specialized training in anger management or a certified anger management professional.
“Anger management issues” basically just means that when you get mad, you have trouble working your feelings out in a mature, calm, responsible way. “Bipolar disorder” is much more serious- it is when you suffer from extreme anger then abrupt periods of elation, almost to the point of “mania”. As I previously said, bipolar is very serious (even if it doesn’t seem to be), so you should talk to your parents, a trusted teacher or guidance counselor to get professional help if you think you have bipolar. Bipolar can only be diagnosed by a psychologist/ psychiatrist or other doctor. Good luck!
