The basic unit of macroevolution is individual. An individual rises into group of individuals or generally groups which eventually rises into diversity. In this case, the answer to this problem is A. individual. Species may have to be more specific with microevolution

The basic unit of macro-evolution is SPECIE.Macro-evolution refers to the theory of evolution in which changes that occur at or above the level of specie recognizes the need to better understand the patterns and processes which operate at the specie and higher levels within a hierarchical framework. Macro evolution is an evolutionary phenomenon, which can include any of the following: origination of new designs, large scale events such as extinction, broad trend and major transitions.

Unfortunately, thisquestion is incomplete. However, macroevolution is evolution at the level of aspecies or greater, as opposed to microevolution, which is evolution at the scaleof alleles. Macroevolution can be thought of as the summed effects ofmicroevolution.
