A. assonanceExplanation:Assonance is a stylistic literary technique that is found in a text when two or more neighboring words (which may or not be separated by a few words) have the same vowel sound. This technique is emphasized in both poetic passages, here are the passages with words that have assonance (underlined and bolded):-By the shores of Gitche Gumee, By the shining Big-Sea-Water,Stood the wigwam of Nokomis,Daughter of the Moon, Nokomis.Dark behind it rose the forest,Rose the black and gloomy pine-trees, Rose the firs with cones upon them;Bright before it beat the water,Beat the clear and sunny water,Beat the shining Big-Sea-Water.(Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, "The Song of Hiawatha")We rest.—A dream has power to poison sleep; We rise.—One wandering thought pollutes the day;We feel, conceive or reason, laugh or weep;Embrace fond woe, or cast our cares away:(Percy Shelley, "Mutability")

C. repetitionExplanation:Both of these poems employ the sound device of repetition. In the first case, the author uses repetition in the case of the words "rose" and "beat." In the second excerpt, the author uses repetition in the case of the phrases "we rest," "we rise" and "we feel." In both poems, the authors use repetition in order to give a particular rhythm to the poems as well as to highlight certain concepts and ideas.

The sound device that is emphasized in both of the passages is C. repetition.Explanation:In poetry, repetition helps create a rhythmic pattern as well as emphasize an idea. It can consist of repeating the same word or phrase, sometimes even whole lines. In the passages we are studying here, we can notice the repetition of a several words and phrases:By the shores of Gitche Gumee,By the shining Big-Sea-Water, Stood the wigwam of Nokomis,Daughter of the Moon, Nokomis.Dark behind it rose the forest,Rose the black and gloomy pine-trees,Rose the firs with cones upon them;Bright before it beat the water,Beat the clear and sunny water,Beat the shining Big-Sea-Water.(Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, "The Song of Hiawatha")We rest.—A dream has power to poison sleep; We rise.—One wandering thought pollutes the day;We feel, conceive or reason, laugh or weep;Embrace fond woe, or cast our cares away:(Percy Shelley, "Mutability")Note that there are other sound devices being used, but the most evident one is repetition, especially in Longfellow's poem. In Shelley's poem, the plural subject is being emphasized. The repetition of "we" aims to show readers how life and death are the same for all of us.

The sound device which is emphasized in both of the above poetic passages is:B. alliterationExplanation:Alliteration is a figure of speech. When the same consonant sound is repeated within a sentence or group of words. It helps to add a specific rhyme or effect in the narrative work. The same letter and the same sound has been repeated many times in the two passages. Hence, the sound device used is alliteration.

I would say alliteration but, consonance seems to be more agreeable.
