Who originally sang “I Can’t Live (if Living is Without You”…I’m sure I heard it in the 60’s.
Who originally sang “I Can’t Live (If Living Is Without You)”? I believe it was a female artist, but I'm not entirely sure. I am aware that Mariah Carey has a well-known version, but that is not the rendition I am looking for. I think I heard it in the 1960s.

Harry Nilsson, who also did “Put de Lime in de Coconut” and “Spaceman”–enormous string of hits for a guy who toured little. And yes, Harry could sing real high like a girl LOL
Without You” is a song originally recorded by Badfinger for their album No Dice (1970), and written by Pete Ham and Tom Evans and produced by Geoff Emerick.
Its verse was composed by Ham, originally titled “If It’s Love”, but had lacked a strong chorus. Evans had written a chorus without a strong verse, so the duo fused the two sections together.
The protagonist of this ballad lets a lover know that they “can’t live if living is without you”. Badfinger’s recording of the song, which is more brusque than its successors’ versions, languished as an obscure album track until it was noticed a year later by Harry Nilsson.
Harry Nilson released his version in 1972.
It has been covered by many artists
Shirley Bassey,
Cilla Black
Air Supply,
Mariah Carey,
Jade Kwan,
Clay Aiken,
Il Divo, Tito Nieves :

“Without You” was originally written and sung by Badfinger on their ‘No Dice’ album from 1970.
However, the most famous cover of this song, the one that most people remember, is the one sung by Harry Nilsson on his 1971 album ‘Nilsson Schmilsson’, and which became a smash hit single in 1972. Whitney Houston also sang this song in the 80’s.
I hope this helps.
Badfinger did the original. Pete Ham & Tom Evans wrote it.
They are both dead. HArry Nilsson had a #1 hit with it.

Badfinger is the correct first singer, as several have menttioned…however I didnt see anyone mention that TG Sheppard also did a cover of this song, so i thought that I would add it ð
Apparently there are a lot of possible songs! But I thought of “Over” by Lindsay Lohan. Still, it could be Jordin Sparks, “No Air”. Or so many others… =)

Harry Nilsson sang it. The official title of the song is “Without You”, and it’s from 1972 (give or take a year)
