Because she is a professional comedienne and what comediennes do is to try and make people laugh. However, people expect a little bit of respect when it comes to the national anthem, not crazy attempts at humor. The mistake was in even asking a comedian to sing the National Anthem in the first place. It would be like asking a comedian to preach a funeral. Wacky hi-jinx are not what’s expected so don’t ask them to preach the funeral.

Apparently, some fool told her that she had singing talent (it’s not true) but when she got there, it was quite obvious that she wanted to make a big joke out of it. That was very disrespectful to the nation. Hence the reason behind the show boycotts and the death threats she received.Now, who wants to hear Rosie O’Donnell sing the national anthem at a sports event? Yeah, I didn’t think so.
