Before there were unions workers got screwed over by companies. No minimum wage, no sick days, unfair hiring/firing techniques, etc. So workers joined unions because they were the only way to improve their situation... Show More
Unions were formed to be the spokespersons for the worker and the management or owners of the corporation. Working conditions, pay, hours worked, and contracts were the main topics to be discussed. If these talks broke down at contract time – a strike was the weapon the unions used.
