Why do cats play patty cake? Is it agression or just play?
I have two male cats who often engage in a playful activity that resembles "patty cake," where they gently paw at each other's paws in succession. It’s quite amusing to watch! However, I’m curious about whether this behavior might indicate aggression or if it’s purely a form of play. One of my cats is 2 years old, and the other is 1 year old. They are best friends, though they do have wrestling matches from time to time.

Usually it is just playing. Although, they sometimes do it to see who has to scoop the litter box lol. No really, they will do it sometimes to show that one is stronger. At least they are doing this, instead of hurting each other.

I have two cats who play patty cake - basically they paw at each other's paw - first one paw, and then the other. It is very funny to watch but I was wondering if it is a sign of agression or is it just play. One cat is 2 years old the other is 1 year old - both are males. They are best buds...
Never ever heard of a cat doing that... I would like to see that.. My two cats don't do that. They do play a lot though. That does sound normal though becuase they like to play a ton. My cats like to play at night and rest during the day its kind of weird... Don't worry they want hert each other if they have been together a long time. They might fight if there new to each other thats how my cats were. Just check on them once and a while. !!!!!!!!!!!! X10 ON WHAT BONNIE SAID!!
Your friend,
Andrew
It's just playing.
If it was fighting they would be making weird noises that sound like muffled meows.
