Why do fat girls say Marilyn Monroe was curvy?

Why do some women claim that Marilyn Monroe was curvy?

I often see women on social media, particularly those who identify as "curvy," stating that Marilyn Monroe is proof that curvy women are more attractive than their slimmer counterparts. However, I believe it's important to clarify that Marilyn was actually quite slim. While she certainly had a beautiful face and an iconic style, her body type does not align with what many consider "curvy" today.

All women have natural curves, regardless of their size, but I feel that this comparison often overlooks the fact that Marilyn was, in fact, slim. As a huge fan of her movies and fashion, I appreciate her legacy, but I find it puzzling why some women seem to draw this comparison.

Marilyn was a slim woman. I see a lot of fat girls or “curvy” girls on Facebook saying “Marilyn Monroe was proof that curvy girls are hotter than skinny girls”…. Uhh. She was SKINNY. And her perfect face didn’t hurt anything. All girls have natural curves to their bodies,…

back in the day, many women wanted to be like Marilyn Monroe, having a bit of curves.(Marilyn was considered a perfect body in the 1940’s & 1950’s.) she was a dress size 10-14, in todays dress size it would be around 4-8. though her dresses were extremely tight, maybe to look a bit slimmer.

it all changed in the 1960’s when twiggy appeared. twiggy had no curves (very thin) and then everyone wanted to look like twiggy.

Personally I don’t think Marilyn was fat, her body curves were well balanced.(and was beautiful for sure.) we all have our own definition of beautiful.

She was 5’5, so she wasn’t that short. That picture you have is also during a time when she was pregnant or had just had a miscarriage, it’s from 1956 or 58, idr. Marilyn Monroe was VERY skinny, she had a 22 inch waist, BUT she was curvy, just not at all fat.

I don’t think she was ever a size 16. Most of the pictures where she looks chubby are from her pregnancies in the late 50s, she miscarried all of them though. :/

Yes I don’t mean to disappoint big lady’s, but Marilyn Monroe was a dress size 10 . She was always a small size. But mm is an inspiration to females all over the world. Long live the legend.

I wouldn’t call her skinny.

She was averaged-sized and most celebrity women back then had curves and are fatter than what our media shows today.

In today’s world, skinniness is valued, especially when modeling bathing suits and clothing.

If you look at pictures in old times, they valued curviness more than they do today.

The way a woman’s body is shaped is determined more by genetics than anything else, so I think women should just learn to be happy with what they’ve got.

You don’t see those rolls on her belly? While she might have had more toned legs in this photo in other photos they are full of cellulite, and much bigger. She gained and lost weight throughout her 36 years of life like other women do. No, women don’t have natural curves body types range depending on the persons bone structure. Some women are fat and straight up and down. Some women look like Jessica Simpson with curves regardless of her weight. Bottom line, you need to stop defending Marylins body and insulting people that are still around to read it – just shut up will you!

bc she was curvy, thick thighs, 36D, you were able to pinch her tummy… Yes she was a thin woman, not fat by any means and certainly not skinny. SHE was PERFECT

Skinny are these runway models that are 90lbs soaking wet

thats the difference
