A peregrine falcon dives at a pigeon. The falcon starts downward from rest with free-fall acceleration.?
A peregrine falcon dives towards a pigeon, starting from rest and accelerating downward due to gravity. The pigeon is located 76.0 meters below the initial position of the falcon. How long will it take for the falcon to reach the pigeon, assuming the pigeon remains at rest? Please provide your answer as quickly as possible, as this is due tomorrow. Whoever provides the correct answer will receive full points! Additionally, please show your work.

Equation for straight line motion:
s = ut + 1/2 at^2 ..... where:
s = displacement; here 76m downwards.
u = initial velocity; here 0
t = time - to be found.
a = acceleration - here the acceleration due to gravity or 9.8ms-2 downwards.
Putting it together:
s = ut + 1/2 at^2
76 = 0t + 1/2 x 9.8 x t^2
t^2 = 15.51
t = 3.9 seconds.
