Why Does my TV keep saying “Please Run Channel Auto Scan”?

Your TV does not need a channel scan if it's connected to a satellite box. That would only be needed if it only had an antenna instead.

So... make sure the satellite box is on. Then turn on the TV and press the TV's SOURCE or INPUT or VIDEO button (it might be on the TV's remote or on the TV) to switch to the next input - one of the inputs should be the satellite box. You might have to press it several times, and you may get a menu of choices when you press it (if you get a menu try everything on the menu).

The answer I got from calling is you can't. The customer service agent did not speak great English but what I got was there is some converter that was removed from tvs after 2010. So you need a box or you need to use a DMI cable. If your tv doesn't have the cable/air option on the scan it will not work with a satellite tv2 without them

Solved this problem on my ELEMENT TV. Trying pressing your SOURCE (sometimes called Input) button. This should bring up a menu saying something like TV - HDMI 1 - HDMI 2 - VIDEO - PC etc. Using the Arrow Keys on your remote Select your TV MODE. For Cable or Satellite this is usually one of the HDMI settings. If the correct setting is hi-lited your tv signal should kick in and the auto scan should disappear.

The Auto Channel

The remote stopped working...I only use tv for dvd player...no cable or satellite hooked up. I just want it on AV I cant run a scan because remote does not work and the universal that I have does not have a source button to change the source....any suggestions on how to get to the source screen without a remote.

I dont have a remote and it keeps saying " please run channel auto scan" I went thru the input menu everyone of the choices arent working? Im trying to get the xbox hooked up to it the HDMI is plugged into the tv and xbox???

hitting the source does not always work for satellite especially if you have dish network due to they have boxes that run 2 televisions on the second television the best thing to do is make sure that the television is on channels 60 or channels 73 to make sure you can get the picture and the channel depends on the tv

I have this same problem and I am amazed no one has hit the root problem. Once autoscan runs a single time that option never appears again on any screen or menu. Why would the fools program a prompt that is impossible to follow?
