A question about the movie “The Roommate”?

Why do Nina Dobrev and Leighton Meester not like each other in the movie? I mean Rebecca (Meester) drew Maria (Dobrev) in high school and then when Sara is with her they have an awkward meeting. What was that about? I’m confused.

When Rebecca used to live back home, she was crazy-obsessed with Maria, just like she was obsessed with Sara later in the movie. She used to follow her around everywhere, and even drew a picture of her, Rebecca’s just a very obsessive person. Just think about it, would you want to be friends with someone like that, who’s psychotically-obsessed with you, it’s pretty scary. So when Maria says “we were never friends” to Rebecca, she’s basically saying that Rebecca was delusional in thinking they were friends since Rebecca doesn’t know what “being friends” means....
