A somewhat idealized graph of the speed of the blood in the ascending aorta during one beat of the heart appears as in the figure. and Assume similar data for the motion of the blood in your aorta. Estimate how many beats of the heart it will it take the blood to get from your heart to your brain.(Assume that the distance from your heart to your brain is 30 cm)

From the graph I would guess the average velocity of the blood during the beat is about .5 m/s a little less probably but pretty close to .5Figure out the distance by v=d/s or.5m/s=d/.2syou get .1m per beat or 10 cm per beat. It would take three beats to travel 30cm.At least that is my take on it.... Show More
