Cats poop white and fuzzy?

I was cleaning my cat’s litter box and noticed that her poop is covered in white fuzz. I’m quite concerned. She’s acting completely normal, but what could this be? My cat is a 10-year-old Domestic Shorthair female; she is black and white, spayed, declawed, and a little overweight. That’s all the information I have about her.

Anyway, please let me know what might be going on. I’m leaving for vacation in two hours, and I don’t want to leave her if she’s sick.

If te area around the cat litter box is damp this is likely mold. The litter box will have to be thoroughly washed and disinfected. I have a very damp basement and this happens if I leave the poop in there for 24 hours or more. And it grows very fast. Mold can grow 1/4″ an hour under the right conditions.

How long has it been since you cleaned the kitty litter box?

If the poop has been there for quite some time, the fuzz might simply be mold. I’ve seen poop covered in mold before, it’s white and fuzzy.

If it was sitting there awhile in a humid area it may have mildewed or molded. Honestly, though, I can’t imagine a normal healthy cat having fuzzy bowel movements.

Please, call your vet and ask for sure. It would be awful to get back to a deceased kitty. Good luck on your trip.

Thats probably just injested hair. Any hair that doesn’t get thrown up in a hair ball will be passed that way. She should be fine. 🙂

It might be Worms. Take her to the vet, and see what they say.
